GCSE Achievements 2023: Gable Hall Students Shine Bright

 

 

A resounding applause to all the exceptional individuals receiving their GCSE results today. Once again, the outcomes stand as a testament to the relentless dedication poured in by both students and teachers.

In reflecting on this accomplishment, Mr. Lewis, the Principal, remarked, "Our commitment revolves around optimising the opportunities for our students, and these results, harmonising with last week's triumphant A Level and Vocational outcomes, undeniably affirm our pursuit. We celebrate in the glory of their triumphs, their honed skills, unfaltering adaptability, unyielding resilience, and unwavering toil. As students embark on the journey ahead, our heartfelt best wishes accompany them. A chorus of congratulations is due to our students, our staff members, and of course, the parents and guardians who emanate boundless encouragement."

Among the jubilant faces, the teachers and senior leaders are elated to observe a substantial contingent of students, now poised with assured paths into our Sixth Form or captivating Apprenticeship opportunities. The lion's share of our students have confidently secured their positions within the Sixth Form Centre - a robust establishment that opens doors to over 32 diverse subjects and a proven record of success.

This year at Gable Hall School, 56% of students achieved a Grade 4 or better in English and Maths combined. 67% achieved a Grade 4 or better in English (with 50% achieving a Grade 5 or better). In Maths, 61% of pupils achieved a Grade 4 or better (with 35% achieving a Grade 5 or better).

We once again cemented our dedication to the Performing & Creative Arts with Drama, Music and Music Technology all achieving 100% grade 4+. Other outstanding outcomes this year were Biology & Chemistry with 92%, Physics 90%, Health & Social Care; popular at our Sixth Form, achieved 86%. Yet more success for the Creative and Performing Arts with Dance and Art at 80%. 

Whilst the last few years have brought turmoil to the DfE Progress/Attainment 8 headline measure, we are confident that this year's results are shaping up to be some of the most successful outcomes for our students in recent years paving the way for our rapid improvement to continue and bring much deserved success in the future.

Just a handful of our outstanding students successes include:

  • Belle T; who achieved five grade 9s, in Biology, Chemistry, English Language & Literature and History. Also achieving grade 8 in Maths and grade 7 in German and Physics.
  • Freya B; who achieved grade 9 in Maths & History, grade 8 in Biology, English Language & Physics and also grade 7 in Chemistry, English Literature & Psychology.
  • Roseanna R; who achieved grade 9 in Maths, grade 8 in Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Further Maths & Physics and also grade 7 in English Language, English Literature & Psychology.
  • Aflie S; who achieved grade 9 in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths & Physics, D*2 in both Business Enterprise & Music Technology and a 7 in English Language.
  • Joshua L; who achieved grade 8 in Biology, Maths & Physics, grade 7 in Chemistry, English Literature & Psychology and a Distinction* in Catering.

Mr. Gary Lewis, Principal of Gable Hall School, expressed his profound pride in the diligent endeavours of our Year 11 cohort, culminating in the well-deserved attainment of their GCSE grades. He extended heartfelt appreciation to our exceptional department members for their unwavering support throughout the academic year. Witnessing the transformation and evolution of our students within the Gable Hall community has been an absolute privilege. Notably, over half of these remarkable individuals have chosen to continue their educational journey within the esteemed Ortu Sixth Form Centre, where a diverse array of A Level and vocational pursuits await. With heartfelt wishes for their future endeavours, a resounding chorus of congratulations resonates to the Class of 2023.
